On this date, next Month, GOD WILLING!

On this date, next month, God willing my boyfriend and I will be boarding a plane to the beautiful island of Barbados. I am extremely excited for our vacation and even more anxious to visit my family and friends introduce him, gain their approval and be in bliss…. This will be one of many times I’ve visited my second home, but his very first time and I’m more than happy to be his private tour guide ;) I’m all about culture and experiencing new things, so it’s imperative that I expose him to my traditions and the world I grew up in. With only four weeks away, we’ve planned safari’s, excursions, cruises, and much more to partake in. What’s mostly anticipated is CARNIVAL. We are traveling during the country’s most vibrant time. It’s the time when locals celebrate the re-growing of their crops, hence the term ‘CROP OVA’…. We’re going to get soooooooo TANNED. This is going to be 2 weeks I’ll never FORGET!

SOOOO HYPE Countdown CONTINUES! 4 weeks now :)

Hair ISSUES….

I absolutely never thought I’d see the day when I’d despise having a hair relaxer. For nine years straight, I’ve religiously and routinely permed my hair. I have never given much thought to what’s best for my hair, health and strength wise. However, now that I am older and much wiser, I’m noticing that relaxers whether with or without lye, normal, regular, or extra strength are damaging my strands. My hair is always dry, rough and hard. If I go a week or two over the time I’m due for my next relaxer, my hair will be the texture of straw. I’m tired of the dry and brittle feel of my hair after I flat iron it, and I hate snipping more than my ends because of constant split ends from chemicals and heat.

So…… I am no longer perming my hair….. I’ve heard stories from friends that it is going to be a long and challenging process. I don’t intend on being AFRO-CENTRIC SISTAH (lol) No offense to those who are, but I would rather have my hair strong and healthy instead of breaking, brittle and weak. I’m still going to have a weave, just stronger more durable hair underneath that weave! HA!

The last time I permed my hair was in May of 2012…… I’m hoping I can accomplish this goal of going natural and cutting ‘the man’ out of my head. I’m unsure of the texture of my natural hair because it has been a while since I have had natural hair. Although my hair probably won’t be the same as it was before the perm, I’m determined to grow my hair, nurture it and experiment with different styles and the likes. Wish me luck…. Oh and do send me suggestions on tolerating natural hair, going through the process and what products are best for NON-PERMED HAIR. I’m open to home remedies as well……….
